midnight on genie avenue. jade hernandez joins us live to tell us the search for the suspects is now under way. >> reporter: we can tell you right now we are live in this neighborhood where the shooting happened last night. police aren't here anymore at the scene. we have checked in with the department for an update. we can tell you at this hour police have not made any arrests. this is what we have at this hour on the shooting. it happened just after 11:30 last night. three people were wounded. two adults and one teenager. dispatch sent police to genie avenue near the downtown area. we don't know what lead to the victims shotting or if the victims were targeted. we did check in with the police department and we'll give you any update with this investigation. so far no arrests have been made and no details on the victims and how they are doing at this hour. as soon as we get more information. >> all right time now 5:01. we will check back in with jade in a little bit. the investigation continues into the weekend police shooting that left a 19-year-

old man dead in the bay view district. now we have learned san francisco investigators are working together with police several miles away. hundreds of miles away. ktvu christian captain is live. >> reporter: we will give you am quick tour of the scene here. first let's show you the growing memorial to 19-year-old kenneth harding. that was the man that was shot by san francisco police. coming around this is the area here where the incident started at the platform there the muni platform on third street. overnight ktvu learned harding was wanted in connection with a washington state murder of a 19- year-old. her name was tania gilbert. she was shot and killed last wednesday. it was initially reported that gilbert was pregnant at the time but the coroners office says she was not. harding is the man seen on the ground in am you tube link that was forward -- in a you tube link that was forwarded to

ktvu. he took off as officers tried to stop him on the muni platform. when he ran he started firing on him. initially officers could not find the gun. some saying they had serious doubts whether harding really had a gun. >> until they found a gun and proved that that's the gun the young man had for me he don't have no gun. he don't have no gun. >> reporter: yesterday afternoon i spoke with san francisco police chief greg sur who told me officers did find that gun on saturday evening. he said it was thanks to tips from community members. >> the bay view community members that have the courage to come forward and tell us the whole story that there had been shots fired at the officers. there was a weapon at the scene. that folks picked it up and went southbound. that lead to us being able to recover the weapon. >> reporter: you can see work under way on that memorial as we speak. now san francisco police here are working with seattle police to see how the homicide there in seattle is tied to the

suspect who died here in san francisco. we'll continue to follow new developments on this. i have been calling up to seattle to speak with investigators and the police and sheriffs office up there. we'll have more details for you and more developments as they occur. for now we are live in san francisco. this morning protestors are going top picket outside u.s. airways ticket counter. they will demand that airline investigators meet with the naacp in the saggy pants case. yesterday prosecutors dropped charges. the university of new mexico football player had refused to pull up his pants as he boarded a plane. the naacp recently allowed a cross dresser to fly around without any objections. michelle le has turned up empty. more than 100 volunteers combed

rural areas friday and saturday. some of the searchers came as far away as florida. she was last seen on may 27th at kaiser hospital. police are investigating the case as a homicide. time now 5:04. oakland police are investigating two separate deadly incidents this weekend. police say they found a victim who apparently died of injuries suffered during a robbery but there is no word on the victims identity or how they died. it is however being investigated as a possible homicide. later saturday night a man was found shot inside a vehicle between 19th and west street. police responded to the area after reports of gunfire. donald robinson was take ton the hospital and pronounced dead. a lone gunman was responsible for that shooting. no arrests have been made. a deadline is approaching for students caught up in a housing crunch at san jose state.

250 returning students found out there is not enough dorm space to accommodate them. that is because of a jump in the amount of freshman and a new requiring them to stay on campus if they live more than 30 niles away. the university is looking for hotels for those returning students. new buzz word in the death ceiling cutdown. coming up at 5:15 we'll have a live report with the latest proposal from republicans ahead of an august 2nd deadline. we are expected to learn more details about severe cuts court. the court is is officially announce it's laying off 200 people and closing 25 courtrooms. it's all to close a $13.75 million deficit. the layoffs and closures are expected to take place in september. other bay area counties are facing similar financial problems thanks to the states budgets problems. time to go to tara who is

51 santa rosa to 50s mid everyone is in the same ballpark. redwood city has dipped to 53. the low is control our weather preventing us from warming up. the mere fact it's here this time of year deserves a wow. usually you'll see something of that ilk that strong. it will start to eject out of here. that will allow the high to slowly build back in. emphasis on slowly. patchy fog. a lot of sun to the south. some high clouds to the north and gradual warming there are hints the high pressure system in the middle of the country giving the really, really tough heat will retro grade or head back to the west which will warm us up. there will be higher clouds. sunny to mostly sunny. a little breeze. there is a west wind out there. 50s, 60s, and 70s and some very low 80s. san francisco 68 is exactly where you should be on the high side this time of year. not much has changed tuesday into wednesday. it does look like a little decrease in some of that fog. more emphasis on fog and

british prime minister david cameron is calling for the parliament to delay its summer break so he can brief lawmakers on the phone hacking scandal. rebecca brooks along with murdoch are scheduled before parliament to announce their plans. cameron is asking them to delay the break to discuss that investigation. the standoff in washington, d.c. on how to deal with the federal debt limit moves to the house and senate floor this week. alison burns is live in our washington, d.c. bureau with the latest proposal from republicans. >> reporter: high level talks at the white house appear to have ended for now as house republicans push ahead with a vote on what is called the cut, cap, and balance bill. it would require both houses pass a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget. raise the debt ceiling by $2.4

trillion. and cap annual federal spending. it's a largely symbolic bill driven by conservatives that will come up for a vote in the house tomorrow. it has little chance of passing the senate. but republicans want to make the point balancing the federal budget is the top priority. >> the real deal would be an amendment to our constitution without that we are just going to talk to each other and run america into the ground. >> reporter: work is also continuing in the u.s. senate on what is considered by many here to be a fall back plan. meanwhile a new cbs news poll out this morning shows that 71% of americans disapprove of how republicans are handling the debt talk negotiations. congressional democrats and president obama are fairing a bit better. more than that in my next update in an hour. for now we are live in washington, d.c. alison burns ktvu channel 2 news. the hillsborough county

council will limit what they can receive on utility discounts. last year it amounted to $48,000. the city paid for by tapping into the redevelopment agency funds. today the league of california cities and the city of san jose are among others that will file a lawsuit against save california because of the way redevelopment agencies were eliminated in the budget. two redevelopment bills are unconstitutional. the bills act as poison pills from ever coming backup life. don't be surprised if you see smoke in the hills of wood side this morning. they are conducting a controlled burn. it's part of the research on fire retar dents as well as the performance of a new fire detection system. that burn scheduled to start at 10:00 this morning and should

stay on the west coast with a really, really hot conditions in the middle of the country. as long as that is there today and tomorrow our temperatures really struggle to warm up much. it will eject off. as it does that will allow the high to slowly build back in. temperatures inland will creep back up. below averages on the temps. other locations are a good ten degrees below average. does look like though inland temps will warm up especially toward the end of the week and the weekend. time now is 5:19 european markets started the day with declines following the lead of most asian benchmarks. honk congress, south korea -- hong kong, and south korea closed down. that also acceptability crude oil near the $97 a barrel mark. only japan closed with slight gains. let's take a look at how the markets closed on friday. everything was up. stock futures are falling this morning. we are expecting a busy week of

good morning, we have only patchy fog. mainly on the sonoma coast. otherwise it's clear. unlike yesterday when that fog went to the sacramento valley. high clouds to the north. we'll be in the 70s for many and a few low 80s. the second storm of this years atlantic hurricane season is gaining power. tropical storm brett is 100 miles northwest of the great abaco islands. it has sustain winds of 40 miles an hour. it is expected to move east, northeast today. forecasters say it's not likely to reach the u.s.. a typhoon is heading for the region of japan where a an earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster has already hit this year. a very strong storm is likely to hit near fukushima tomorrow. they are trying to build a new roof over the building that houses reactor number three before that storm arrives. long-time girlfriend of a marin county man that died in

hawaii is back home but facing another ordeal. a large wave swept david potts away. his girlfriend wanted to stay in hawaii while his body was recovering. she had to return home. she has stage four breast cancer. >> so hard right now to focus on anything but missing david. he was everything to me. >> watching my sister and what she is going through. it's just gut wrenching. >> family and friends have now set up a trust fund at a local bank to help pay for the woman's medical bills. there is a new british open champion this morning. >> with a smile. darren clark has his major. >> northern ireland darren clark won his first major title yesterday with an even par 70 in the final round.

it will be mostly sunny today. i say that because there will be higher clouds in mendocino and lake county. slightly warmer upper 70s and a few 80s. here's a look at highway four through bay point you can see traffic with the headlights there. as you drive toward concord no delays to speak of. no delays if you head toward downtown or the airport there. 5:30kraig and claudine. this morning police in richmond are investigating a double homicide. a man and woman are dead and a third victim is wounded. paul. >> reporter: good morning, claudine. police are investigating two separate shootings that happened last night. they happened a few miles away from each other and 30 minutes apart. i'm joined by lieutenant french right now to give us new

details. can you tell us what happened in the first shooting. the one that happened about 10:15. >> we know a male was standing outside when shot. a 23-year-old male. by a suspect we believe that was on foot. she expected to survive at this point. >> reporter: a half hour later we had another shooting where two people were shot and killed; correct? >> that is correct. in the 400 block of thistle. we had three people shot. two were pronounced dead at the scene. a male and female both in their 30s and we had another female in her 20s that were take ton the hospital. >> reporter: you are looking at a possible connection between the two. why is that? >> because of the close proximity between the two. there has been a feud between north richmond and central richmond. >> reporter: thank you for joining us this morning. as of right now police do not

have any suspects in either of these cases. if you know anything about it you are encouraged to call richmond police. live in richmond i'm paul chambers. we learning more about an overnight shooting in san jose. three people are wounded on genie avenue near the downtown area. jade hernandez just spoke with the san jose spokesperson. jade what have you learned? >> reporter: this is the neighborhood where the shooting happened and we did just get off the phone with an officer this morning. it looks like the victims in the shooting found right here in this neighborhood were take ton the hospital. paramedics -- [ inaudible ] san jose police say dispatch took several calls of shots heard in the area after 11:30 last night. police arrived to the 800 block of green knee avenue near the down -- genie avenue near the downtown area that is where they found three victims.

this is what jose garcia had to say. >> we did receive calls of shots being heard in the 800 block of genie avenue. that is something our investigation will hopefully reveal as to how the victims were first of all related to one another. if there is a relationship to the suspect or suspects and you know what the victims were doing at the time of the shooting. >> reporter: a lot of details we don't know about the shooting yet as you heard officer garcia we don't know the relationship between the victims or how many suspect there is are. we do know no arrests have been made and police are not on scene anymore. but we do know this investigation is ongoing. reporting live in san jose jade hernandez ktvu channel 2 news. oakland police have identified a person of interest in the case of a 21-year-old woman. monica was discovered early thursday morning on ivanhoe

road. police have not released the name of the person of interest or any details about that person's alleged involvement in the crime. friends and family held a fun raise yesterday. they watched cars a the the east lake ymca. the money will go toward funeral costs and a trust fund for his one-year-old son. they washed about 1250 cars. almost two dozen san jose firefighters laid off last year will soon be back on the job. 22 firefighters accepted their position back last week thanks to a federal grant. this morning san francisco city attorney will file a lawsuit over paint damage to muni buses. dennis claims cbs outdoor damaged the buses when they applied and removed advertising displays. he says that goes against the 2004 contract and requires

contractors to reimburse damages done. the 405 is back open for the monday morning rush hour commute. in fact the 405 reopened yesterday morning. 16 hours ahead of schedule. it was closed for a partial demolition of the bridge. but crews still need to haul away some of the debris left behind. >> the next week or so we will take maybe one or two lanes at night and we will chip away at those. it's a pretty simple operation break those in little pieces and haul them off. >> cal tran will finish off the demolition of the bridge next year. forcing the 405 to shut down again. drivers on interstate 680 may notice something different this morning. metering lights. they will be reacts visited in less than 30 minutes.

mendocino county and lake county. looking for upper 70s immediate to upper 70s for this time of year is really cool. the fog was chewed up. in all of its glory it made it out to the sacramento valley. that is not the case today. 51 santa rosa. 56 fair feel. redwood city cool to 53. southwest 14 at fair feel. the sea breeze has been cut in half so far. we still have a little breeze this morning. as long as it's there we stay cool it will eject out. that will allow temperatures to come up a little bit. today, sun, and higher clouds to the north. another day where the west coast. a rell, hot conditions have been back in the country.

shortly after midnight yesterday. jurors acquitted her of killing her two-year-old daughter. police near san diego are now investigating two deaths at the mansion of pharmaceutical ceo. two days after the boy's fall jonah's girlfriend was also found dead hanging nude from a balcony with her hands and feet bound. investigators say they have not ruled out suicide in the girlfriend's death and have not established a connection between the two incidents. jonah is the founder and ceo of a medical pharmaceutical corporation that specializes in skin treatment. >> shocked. shocked. >> if he they rule his

girlfriend's death as a homicide it will be the first in four years. general david petraeus handed over control to general john allen. this is new video of the hand over ceremony in kabul today. petraeus steps down after a year in charge of 140,000 international troops in that country. he's retiring from the army to become director of the cia. general allen will oversea the draw down of u.s. forces. hours before the hand over ceremony a close advisor to karzai was assassinated in his home in kabul. two killed the karzai advisor he was meeting with in his house. the gunmen were killed by afghan police. the taliban claim responsibility for that attack. three nato troops were killed in eastern afghanistan today. nato has not identified the nationalities of the troops killed. most of the troops in the east are american. a group of teenagers leave for japan today from san

francisco as part of a special exchange program. 32 high school students from around the u.s. were invited to study the japanese language and culture. it's in memory of two american teachers that were killed in the earthquake and tsunami. students are already brushing up on their japanese. at the bay bridge teleplay the beaucoup is still not that bad. the metering lights should not go on for another half hour. this is 680 near the sunol grade we will have metering lights going on at 6:00 this morning. they will be warning lights. there is warning lights though the real ones won't go into effect until next monday. here is steve. happy monday. yesterday big fog bank kept temperatures realtively cool. we start off mostly clear this morning. there areas of fog but very shallow very light on the sonoma coast. mostly sunny. there is a system that will spin in through the north bay. mild, breezy. not much changed tomorrow but by the end of the week only patchy fog or very shallow fog. it does look warmer inland with 90s. that is what it's showing. we have been very cool for a long time here.

system that continues to dig down is a very cool pattern. there is a very strong system as well. you can see that is producing rain to the north. also in the northern sacramento valley it's conceivable. higher clouds for northern sonoma and napa. the mere fact it's there will hold our temperatures in check. we start off with a lot of 50s. there is still a west wind or west, southwest wind it has been cut in half. still this low as long as it's there today probably tonight into early tomorrow keeps us on the cool side as high pressure will try to build back toward the end of the week. today some sun. fair. by that i mean higher clouds with patchy fog and it will be slightly warmer. yesterday farther north you go temperatures hard pressed to warm up. 79 fairfield. low 80s pittsburgh antioch and brentwood. morgan hill to gilroy low 80s.
